4th OCTOBER - DAY 3

In Full Danish Weather

Yesterday we attended a lesson about the moving sand dune in Råbjerg Mile and today we visited it. We left from the Gymnasium in the morning by bus and before arriving to the Danish northernmost point we stopped in Råbjerg Mile, which is a migrating coastal dune between Skagen and Frederikshavn. It is the largest moving dune in Northern Europe with an area of around 2 km2 and a height of 40 m above sea level. We went on the top of a dune to see the beautiful landscape but  unfortunately the strong wind and the salty rain disturbed our trip and they didn't give us the possibility to stay here more time. In this area a particular natural phenomena happens, infact these dunes are constantly modified by wind and they always change their form.

Then we finally arrived in Skagen,  Denmark’s northernmost town. Thanks to a tractor-bus we were taken to see Grenen, a sandbar split where the two seas meet. Unfortunately it was a rainy and windy day so it didn’t let us enjoy this view completely. After that we went to visit the museum of Art and the Anchers’ house. In the museum there was a guide who showed us the most important paintings and gave us detailed information about them. We had a possibility to look at paintings that we had analysed the day before at school with the Art teacher.

We had also free time without the guide in way to visit all museum and to take photos.

Then we walked alone around this astonishing and coloured small city. At the end of this trip we had dinner in a restaurant near the port called “Pakhuset”. We came back home around  9 pm.
